About us
Local Heating and Cooling Work, Explained Clearly
FrostPoint AC Repair works on heating and cooling systems across San Jose and the surrounding South Bay. The Santa Clara Valley's climate shapes what we see. Dry summers push air conditioners hard, especially in the hotter inland and southern parts of the valley. Mild, damp winters keep furnaces and heat pumps cycling on and off for months. Many homes here also have older ductwork, aging furnaces, or rooms that never quite get comfortable. When we come out, we start by finding the actual cause of the problem instead of guessing. We walk you through what's wrong, show you what we found when we can, and lay out your options, whether that's a repair, a tune-up, or a replacement. If replacement makes sense, we'll talk through heat pumps, ductless mini-splits, and conventional systems. We'll also cover current Bay Area rules and incentives so you can choose what fits your home and budget.

FAQ
Common questions
Do Bay Area air rules require me to replace my working gas furnace?
No. The Bay Area Air District appliance rules don't require replacing working equipment. They apply only when an existing furnace or water heater fails or is replaced.
What changes for gas furnaces in 2029?
Under Bay Area Air District Rule 9-4, natural gas furnaces manufactured from 2029 must meet a zero-NOx emission standard. In practice, that points homeowners toward heat pumps when a furnace is replaced after that date. If your furnace is getting older, it's worth thinking about your options before it fails.
Can I still get the federal tax credit for a new heat pump?
No, not for new installations. The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C) covered qualifying heat pumps placed in service before December 31, 2025. It isn't available for heat pumps installed after that date.
Are there local incentives for heat pumps?
Bay Area homeowners can check BayREN and their local clean energy provider for current heat pump and electrification incentives. Amounts and availability change with each funding cycle, so we confirm the current offer before including it in a quote.
How do I know whether to repair or replace my air conditioner?
It depends on the system's age, how often it has needed repairs, what's wrong now, and how well it keeps your home cool. We'll explain what we find and give you both options so you can weigh them.
How often should I schedule HVAC maintenance?
A common approach is to service the air conditioner before summer and the heating system before winter. Heat pumps handle both heating and cooling, so they benefit from regular checkups throughout the year. Routine maintenance helps catch small problems before they turn into breakdowns.
Is a ductless mini-split a good fit for my home?
Mini-splits often work well in homes without ductwork, in additions and converted garages, and in rooms that run noticeably hotter or colder than the rest of the house. We'll look at your layout and tell you whether one makes sense.
